Hoi An to Halong.. A summation in photos

So it’s been a while since the last up date, and since then we’ve travelled hundreds of miles visiting Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, Cat Ba Island, Halong Bay, and Nam Cat.. I think it’s time for an update.

Since Jana has been gifted with the ability to write beautifully captivating and humorous articles and, well, I have a camera..?

Well now it’s time for a change! Today I’m “Caption” Nelson (har har). Here’s Hoi An to Halong through a one eyed monster…

Losing our sea legs, and finally buying a rice hat.

Just got back from a candlelit dinner alongside the canal, squatting on tiny wooden tables and chairs heartily shoveling ‘ban xeo’ into our mouths, and gazing into the hazy purple glow of hundreds of colourful, silk lanterns. So much so, we got a scooter of our own, and ripped around all day, hustling through back alleys doubling as fruit markets, passing through decrepit but colorful neighbourhoods, and smiling at everyone as we got caught up in the lovely, tangled mess of it all. What a ride.

SAIGON Top 5:
- The food: shoving my face into a bowl of Pho Bo and launching into a Vietnamese pancake. Everything tastes good here.
- Racing around on the back of a scooter, laughing, (screaming), taking it all in.
- Crossing the road. Okay, not so exciting in your town, but it appears jay walking into oncoming traffic us a national pastime…
- People watching. With cafes abounding on every corner and coffee to die for, sitting hopped up on caffeine and counting rice hats is an ideal afternoon unto itself.
- The nightlife. Shouting people, skeezy neon lights, and a city that never sleeps. Weee.

Hop, skip, and jump past the two days of salt water, seafood, and sand dunes that was Mui Ne, and here we are in its sister partytown, Nha Trang. Let the fire spinning begin…
